Chevrolet's 'generous discounts have seen sales rise'

Chevrolet's scrappage scheme discounts may have led to an increase in the number of motorists searching for cheap car insurance quotes for its models, if the comments of the manufacturer are anything to go by.

The company's sales grew by 30 per cent in the UK last month, compared with the same period in 2008.

According to the group, the government's cash for bangers incentive has played an important role in this success.

However, the group claimed its models were proving particularly attractive to participants in the programme because it is offering bigger financial incentives than many other carmakers.

It pointed out that while some firms are trying to tempt customers with the minimum £2,000 saving, Chevrolet is prepared to cut up to £6,365 off certain models under the scheme.

Commenting on the latest statistics, managing director Mark Terry said: "We have had yet another phenomenal month, where once again ... [our] sales have outperformed the market by quite some margin."

Meanwhile, motorists who have saved money on a new Chevrolet by taking part in the cash for bangers programme may find they can cut costs further by searching for cheap car insurance online.
