Child car seats 'being wrongly fitted'
Motorists with children are being urged to ensure that their children's car seats are fitted correctly after new figures showed that some are still being wrongly installed.
A survey carried out in the Pembrokeshire region of Wales found that only 13 per cent of child seats in vehicles in the area were fitted correctly.
In all, 150 drivers were stopped as part of the research carried out by County Council Road Safety Unit.
The figures showed an alarming lack of knowledge among parents over the correct way to seat their child in the back of a car.
One mother, Jenny Shales, told News Wales that she was pleased the checks had been carried out and glad that she had been given advice by experts.
"I didn't expect the checks to be so thorough and helpful," she said.
Legislation passed in September 2006 requires that all children under the age of 12 and less than 1.35m tall must be seated in an appropriate restraint while in a vehicle.
