Citroen scoops safety accolade

Auto buyers keen to opt for a model that may be able to help them protect their cheap car insurance premiums may be tempted to pay a visit to their local Citroen dealership after hearing about the group's latest success.

The company has been named Best Vehicle Manufacturer at Brake's 2009 Fleet Safety Forum Awards.

Commenting on the honour, the firm said it makes the effort to offer its customers lots of equipment that can help prevent collisions and also protect the occupants of an auto if a crash is unavoidable.

Such features include directional headlamps, lane departure warning technology, laminated safety glass and head-up display.

The company's C4 received a maximum five-star Euro Ncap rating for adult protection and a four-star score under criteria set out for looking after children's well-being.

In addition to this, the C6 was the first model to achieve top marks for both adult and pedestrian safety.
