Drivers in Cardiff 'clear thoughts in the car'

A survey has revealed that 77 per cent of motorists in Cardiff say that getting behind the wheel allows them some precious "me-time".

More than three out of four of drivers living in the welsh city said that they used the opportunity of driving to think about important issues in their life.

A massive 43 per cent of them try to find solutions to problems relating to work and finance, while a meagre five per cent think about their love life and friends while on the road.

Meanwhile, in other parts of the UK, drivers are less likely to use their journey to think through issues, with 62 per cent of people from Aberystwyth claiming that they do not think about anything at all when they are in their cars.

Debra Williams, managing director of Confused.com which conducted the survey, said: "It is interesting that a huge proportion of drivers only get the chance to enjoy valuable me-time when they are out and about in their cars.

"Our research shows that the majority of people in Wales use their cars as havens where they can dwell on their problems, work, money, their love-lives and families – especially if they are based in Cardiff."

She added that cars are becoming "increasingly integral to people's lives" and that it is important for drivers not to burden themselves further by not getting cheap car insurance.
