Drivers offered cheap London parking

European car drivers that need to park their car in the busy streets of London can now do so for a 20p an hour.

Westminster Council is piloting a new scheme, where drivers will be charged different car parking prices depending upon how full the car park is, with those that arrive when it is close to full capacity being charged the current £2 maximum hourly rate.

The scheme will be trialled in Westminster's Queensway car park for 12 weeks and will be extended to the authority's other 14 car parks, including those in the West End, if the period is deemed a success.

Councillor Danny Chalkley, from Westminster Council said: "We know that many drivers in London are put off by expensive parking charges.

"Now they will be able to park far more cheaply on a first come, first served basis."
