Drivers urged to get green
Following a few simple 'green driving' rules can make a significant impact on the environment and drivers' hip pockets, according to the RAC.
British drivers waste an annual £2.2 billion in petrol because of poor journey planning and driving practices, at an average of £100 per driver per year.
David Bizley, RAC's technical director, appealed to drivers to become more eco-friendly.
"With fuel prices at a record high, adopting eco driving techniques is an easy way for consumers to reduce their fuel consumption, to help wallets and the environment," he said.
Mr Bizley said that nine per cent of Britons admitted to having checked their tyre pressure less than once per year, while a further nine per cent wrongly believed that braking regularly will cut down on fuel consumption.
Eartheasy's suggestions for better fuel efficiency include avoiding stopping and starting all the time, regular servicing of the vehicle and clearing out the boot to reduce the weight of the car.
