Driving stress levels found out
Men are most likely to become stressed behind the wheel if they get caught in a traffic jam, new research has found.
A survey of 1,000 Australian households, conducted by Woolcott Research and released by NRMA Insurance, also found that women are most likely to suffer from stress if they become lost behind the wheel or get stuck driving in bad weather.
Motorists are advised to continue to drive safely if they become a bit short-tempered on the roads, as having an accident not only endangers lives but could also have financial implications such as increasing the cost of future car insurance quotes.
Frank Adler, an NRMA Insurance spokesman, told the Melbourne Herald Sun: "Stress can cloud driving judgment for both men and women.
"If you feel stressed before you get behind the wheel, it's better to postpone driving until you are more at ease. If you find your stress levels start rising while you're on the road because you're lost or driving in bad weather or heavy traffic, remind yourself to stay focused and in control - it could be the difference between arriving safely or not at all."
And recent research from Moneysupermarket.com found that men pay nine per cent more for their car insurance than women.
