Euro breaks 'still popular'
European car insurance is an important consideration for those heading to the continent this year - a type of holiday still popular despite the rise in UK breaks, it has been suggested.
Britain's national tourism agency VisitBritain recently commented on whether seaside getaways nearer to home were becoming a genuine alternative to their hotter Mediterranean counterparts.
Spokesperson Elliott Frisby said while the euro exchange rate is currently unfavourable, Britain cannot really match the beautiful weather of the Med.
Overseas will still be a popular choice even in difficult financial times but the strength of the pound is causing more consumers to holiday at home, he added.
The VisitBritain representative also discussed the increasingly different tastes of holidaymakers, claiming that while UK residents do like to lie on the beach, more and more want to participate in outdoor sports or adventure activities while on a break.
"Nowadays, people are lot more niche with their choices," Mr Frisby concluded.
