Focus wins Green award
European car insurance customers looking to have a positive impact on the environment may want to consider buying a Ford Focus after it scooped an award.
In the first ever Green Awards from What Car?, the Ford Focus 1.6 TDCi style beat off competition from 23 other models to be awarded the accolade of Green Car of the Year.
The competition was held at the British international Motorshow and BMW was also rewarded with a special editor's award for its Efficient Dynamics technology.
Those people that buy an environmentally-friendly vehicle could be compensated for their stance with cheaper car insurance quotes.
Presenting the awards, What Car?'s group editor, Steve Fowler, said: "This Focus shows you don't have to slum it to do your bit for the planet.
"It's proof that outstanding efficiency and lower emissions can be achieved without using prohibitively expensive technologies."
Other ways in which a motorist could make savings on their car insurance could be to shop around for cheaper car insurance quotes, according to Confused.com.
The price comparison site found the average person could save over £200 a year by looking for a range of car insurance quotes.
