GM drives for better business
An initiative by the Department of Transport to encourage safe driving among staff in company fleet cars has been welcomed by General Motors UK (GM) after it said it would commit to becoming a 'champion' of the Driving for Better Business program, Easier.com has reported.
As of April 6th, GM's UK operations has said that as a leading supplier of fleet vehicles, it wants to show the way in helping business to promote good driving practices in a bid to reduce deaths and injuries resulting from vehicles used for business purposes.
Maurice Howkins, director of the GM UK fleet, said that his company was serious about its commitment to the safety of its customers and employees.
"We sell our vehicles to businesses big and small all over the UK, and we also run a company car scheme for our own employees," he said.
"We, and every other vehicle manufacturer who sells to businesses, should do our part in ensuring that business car drivers and their organisations not only have, but understand, the information associated with being safe and legal on UK roads while going about their business.
Roadsafe director, Adrian Walsh, said that it was important that people out on company business are supported by their employers with good guidance and sensible rules to follow.
