Honda owners 'least likely to breakdown'
Motorists who do not want to end up relying on the breakdown cover that came with their comprehensive auto insurance may want to opt for a Honda model when purchasing a new car.
Research by Warranty Direct has shown that the Japanese manufacturer produces the most reliable vehicles.
The study looked at a database of 50,000 policies, covering 250 models from 30 different carmakers.
Honda vehicles were found to be the least likely to break down, followed by Mazda, Toyota and Subaru autos.
Warranty Direct's managing director, Duncan McClure Fisher, suggested some manufacturers need to focus more energy on this area of car design.
He stated: "Perhaps buyers should canvass for health warning stickers in the same way the industry has adopted low emissions tax band grading. Maybe that'll incentivise improved reliability and quality."
Meanwhile, motorists who worry about breaking down may find a cheap car insurance policy that provides breakdown cover as standard provides valuable peace of mind.
