Law changes to driving in France
Drivers that intend to put their European car insurance to good use by taking to the roads of France in the coming months should be aware of changes to driving laws in the country.
As of July 1st, all motorists that break down or suffer a roadside emergency and do not follow a new safety procedure could be fined 135 (£107).
All motorists using French roads will be expected to carry a warning triangle and a high-visibility security vest in case of a roadside emergency.
Drivers will be expected to put on the safety vest before getting out of their vehicle and then to put on their hazard lights and place their warning triangle behind their stranded vehicle.
Studies have shown that following these methods significantly decrease the number of accidents on the road as other motorists are aware that a vehicle is involved in an emergency situation.
And motorists looking to save on their European car insurance have been advised by the Insurance Information Institute that it is possible to do so by taking advanced driver courses or promoting a no claims bonus.
