Motorists failing to do car insurance research
Almost a quarter of motorists fail to collect a car insurance quote before they go out and purchase a new car, according to new research.
Research by esure car insurance has found that 24 per cent of motorists wouldn't get a car insurance quote before making their car purchase.
And many drivers fail to value cheap car insurance highly when buying a new car as only 70 per cent of motorists manage to research which insurance group their new vehicle is placed in.
Thus, many are not checking that their new car insurance premium fits in with prior budgets and whether they are indeed actually insurable for the vehicle.
Mike Pickard, head of risk and underwriting at esure car insurance, said that motorists who spend an hour or two looking around for the right insurance package before purchasing a car could end up making a real difference in lowering the damage caused to their wallets.
According to recent research from Experian, women regard the impact that car insurance will have on them when purchasing a new car, compared with men.
