Motorists given advice on how to keep costs down
Motorists looking for ways to keep the costs of their first car down, should look for a vehicle in a low car insurance bracket which offers good fuel consumption, according to an article in the Independent.
Writing in its Car Choice section, James Ruppert focuses on a final year medical student called Avinder Gobindpuri who is about to buy his first car.
Mr Ruppert suggested three cars which will be cheap to keep on the road, partly because they offer cheaper car insurance because of their low insurance groups.
Among the suggestions were a Ford Fiesta or a Vauxhall Corsa, as not only do they offer cheap car insurance but they are also cheap and easy to repair.
However, Mr Ruppert singled out the Toyota Yaris as the best selection, due to it being in the cheapest car insurance bracket and having "very reasonable" overall fuel consumption.
Brits looking to keep their car insurance quote down are advised to stick to the laws of the road.
A survey from swiftcover.com recently found that many motorists are undertaking a range of activities such as using a mobile phone while driving or speeding, which could cause future car insurance hikes.
