Motorists 'should choose cheap car insurance carefully'
Drivers should not put price ahead of quality when looking for cheap car insurance, it has been suggested.
According to the British Insurance Brokers' Association, motorists who simply go for the least expensive policy available may end up shelling out more in the long run.
It claimed opting for features such as a protected no-claims bonus was often a good idea, even if it does cost more up front.
The group explained if people failed to do so, they could see the cost of their premiums rise significantly in the event of an accident.
Steve Foulsham, technical services manager, stated: "Some companies will charge a little bit more at the outset ... but the advantages if you have to claim far outweigh the cost that is there initially."
Meanwhile, motorists looking to protect their no-claims bonus may find they can secure cheap car insurance online that comes with this and other benefits.
