Motorists told to check car insurance inclusions

Motorists have been told by the AA that when choosing their car insurance, they should pay special attention to what they are getting for their money if they have an accident.

In a piece in the AA Members Club Magazine, motorists are told to ask serious questions when seeking cheap car insurance to make sure they are covered in the best way should they have an accident.

The piece states that motorists should check that their insurance provides them benefits including free legal advice and a free loan car if their car is out of action for a length of time.

Also motorists who like the odd booze cruise abroad to stock up on alcohol should make sure they have a European car insurance to cover them on these trips.

Although many people do not believe they will need a decent car insurance policy, a statement in the article states that the chances of an accident are high in a person's lifetime.

The statement said: "Unfortunately, the statistics show that everyone has a very good chance of needing their car insurance – whether they simply reverse into a concrete pillar in a car park or become involved in a serious smash at traffic lights.

"Only when you have a claim does the cover really come into its own."
