Motorists urged to give cars a safety spring clean
Motorists are being urged to give their cars a safety spring clean, the Glasgow Daily Record reports.
The RAC Foundation has advised motorists to look at the condition of their lights, brakes and tyre pressure, after a government report found that over three million UK drivers had at least one of these faults on their cars and were risking high fines.
Sheila Rainger, of the RAC Foundation, said that the extra daylight offered by spring represented a good opportunity to take the car to the service station.
"This weekend's extra hour of evening daylight is an ideal opportunity to do those crucial tasks which have been put off all winter. There is no excuse for not keeping your car roadworthy," she said.
Research earlier this year by Esure showed that 70 per cent of UK motorists delayed fixing a known fault with their car because of the cost, but experts warn that taking such a course of action will result in costlier repairs later on.
