Robinson facing hike in car insurance

After collecting a speeding ticket which took the points on her licence to 13, next year Anne Robinson will receive a car insurance quote which is 75 per cent more expensive than what it would have been if she had no points, it has been stated.

The Weakest Link presenter received a six month driving ban and four points on her licence for collecting a speeding ticket for driving at 43mph in a 30mph zone in August last year.

And car insurance comparison site has stated that Robinson can expect to have to stump up an extra £539.95 on to the price of her car insurance for having points on her licence.

It has been added that if she fails to shop around, the cost of her car insurance could be £663.96 or 100 per cent more than what it would be if she would have driven according to the law and never received any points.

Simon Lamble, product director at Confused.com, has warned drivers that they are risking potentially higher car insurance premiums for trying to save a few minutes on their journey times.
