Underwater car heads to Geneva motor show
Car enthusiasts will be given the opportunity to witness an altogether different kind of driving technique at the Geneva motor show which is being held in March.
A Swiss firm will be displaying the unique sQuba which it claims can be driven both on the road and underwater.
The open-topped vehicle contains scuba gear and breathing equipment in the back, which the driver and passenger can put on before diving to a depth of up to 33ft.
Inspired by the Lotus Esprit that Roger Moore drives underwater in The Spy Who Loved Me, the car is also environmentally-friendly - powered by rechargeable Lithium-Ion batteries.
Speaking to the Times, Frank Rinderknecht, chief executive of the manufacturer Rinspeed said: "For three decades I have tried to imagine how it might be possible to build a car that can fly under water.
"Now we have made this dream come true."
A number of new models are set to be unveiled at this year's Geneva motor show including the new Ford Fiesta, Renault's Koleos and Nissan's GT-R.
