Uninsured drivers warned they will be caught
The British Insurers Brokers' Association (BIBA) has sent a warning to uninsured drivers stating that they will all eventually be caught.
Graeme Trudgill, BIBA technical and corporate affairs executive, states that his company have a "strong will" to combat the problem of uninsured drivers, as they not only kill a lot of people but also hinder the chances of law-abiding motorists getting cheaper car insurance.
To make changes to try and thwart the problem, he explained some of the changes that have taken place to try and tackle the issue of uninsured drivers.
"The police can now stop a vehicle on the road side and can see whether it's insured or not, and they now have powers to seize that vehicle at the road side," he said.
"Since they've had these powers they have confiscated about a quarter of a million vehicles. So recently we have managed to make a dent in the problem. However, it's still a massive problem with over two million uninsured vehicles."
According to a release from comparethemarket.com last month, the average fine for a motorist caught driving with no insurance is a measly £250.
