Young drivers to be helped with Pass Plus
Young drivers in the north-east could improve their chances of finding cheaper car insurance by taking advantage of a training course being paid for by a local safety group, reports the Press and Journal.
Fraserburgh and District Community Safety Group is to donate £100 to any young driver who wishes to improve their driving by undergoing Pass Plus training.
It is hoped that by financially supporting young drivers, the death toll on local roads will be cut.
The six-lesson programme, designed by the Driving Standards Agency, teaches newly-qualified motorists about hazards they may have not experienced before, such as driving in different weather conditions, at night and on motorways.
By gaining the qualification, young motorists will be liable to cheaper car insurance.
The average Pass Plus course costs £150, but Aberdeen Council has offered to donate £45 to drivers who have passed their test in the last year, leaving them with only £5 to pay.
Research from swiftcover.com has also advised young drivers they could save another £150 on a car insurance quote by shopping around for cheap car insurance.
