Young motorists could make insurance savings
Young motorists have been told that they could save up to £150 if they spent the time shopping around for the cheapest car insurance, according to new research.
Research from swiftcover.com has found that younger motorists could find much cheaper car insurance by looking for a more competitive car insurance quote.
According to the Association of British Insurers' report, 'Young Drivers: Road Safety and the Cost of Motoring', a young driver could be spending 50 per cent of their motoring costs singularly on their insurance, whereas this figure is reduced to six per cent for an experienced driver.
And with many youngsters liable to see their car insurance quote dramatically rise if they are involved in an accident, swiftcover states that its unfair for all young drivers to be punished with high quotes.
Tina Shortle, marketing director of swiftcover.com, said: "Although young drivers are statistically proven to have a far higher rate of accidents, it does not necessarily follow through that this is the case for all drivers in their twenties.
"We believe at swiftcover.com that it is unfair for all drivers to pay over the odds simply because of their age. Through sophisticated analysis, we are able to ensure that a twenty something is treated as an individual not a number."
